And now I'm 60. Good fun for another toon.

Alenrak got 60 today, and maxed his herbalism.

With just the gear from the quests I've done so far, his bonus spell damage is over 200. Some of the gear is crafted, some of it isn't. I have a couple pieces lined up for future levels that adds set bonuses for me.

Once I burn through the quests I have lined up for me from this leveling guide, I should end up pretty close to 70, if not actually HAVE 70 because of rested bonus and other little quirks.

From there, it's back to PvP to get gear for him.

Bleh. I will HATE not feeling like getting progress, but I can have him 70 by Christmas no problem.

Getting Alenrak to 60.

I've basically decided to get as close to 60 as possible on Alenrak before I take him to outlands.

I'll just burn off the quests that I have on him over the next day or so and make sure I at least get TO 60 before I actually take the walk through the portal. The walkthrough guide I have for 1-70 recommends being at least level 60 when you start in on the outlands quests. I'm going to follow it.

All I really need to do is complete all the quests I have in my log right now and then I'm done getting to 60. After that, it's a turbo run to 70. Completing the quests in blackrock depths is going to be interesting, considering the build on Alenrak right now.

One way or another, level 60 isn't that far off for me. I'll worry about the PVP bracket farming later. 1.5 levels isn't that hard with the new quest experience reward totals.

Another one with genuine outlands access.

Last night I got Alenrak to 58. I haven't taken him through the outlands introduction quests yet, because I want to follow this leveling guide I have as closely as possible. Level 60 is kinda a safe bet to get the power leveling going.

I've been leveling a bit off and on with my friend trying to get both toons to outlands. It gets tedious, but we are able to take on higher level quests than we could alone.

I'm not sure if I should pvp bracket farm or just level to 70 and be done with it. The choice isn't that easy to make right now. One thing's for sure. I'm going to get at least SOME Alterac Valley done today on him. I need 50 AV marks and it's AV weekend.

Inching closer to outlands ready.

Alenrak is almost able to get to outlands. He has gotten 6 levels in the past 4 days. He started the week at 51. He's now 57, with 5 bars into the level (it's about 25%, 5% per bar). With the new quest reward rates from 2.3 (upwards of 12k experience per quest) I suspect that I'll have 58 (and the outlands access that comes with it) by Saturday.

Once I have outlands access AND get some of my requisite PVP bracket farming done, I'm going to start following this leveling guide that I have and power level to 70.

Tier 4 drop, woot.

My main hunter took part in a massive turbo kara run tonight. We steamrolled through: Attunmen, Moroes, Maiden, Opera, Curator, and Shade before I left.

The crossbow dropped off of attunmen, the opera dropped the beastmaul pauldrons, and the curator dropped the T4 Hunter/lock/Mage glove piece.

Shame they're a downgrade from Merciless Gladiator for my build.

Oh well, keeping them anyway.

Plans for the second hunter.

I'm looking into building my second hunter as a beast master sub marksman.

The build I'm probably going to go for on her. 41/20/0 Beast Master.

She's going to be using a cat a lot and turtle only a little bit. Most of her gear will likely come from PVP when she gets to 70.

2 toons to get gear from PVP. It's going to be interesting to say the least. 220k honor for 2 toons isn't a quick process.

Saturday, November 17, 2007

For those who don't know, the build I'm going for with Alenrak.

Balance, sub restoration

It'll be particularly fun to deal with once I'm 70.

I'll probably be kicking around the 50-59 bracket when arena season 3 comes out, although I'm not sure.

What should be my objective for arena s3 day?

I'm trying to decide between having my objective for Alenrak be getting to 70 by arena season 3 release or just go for 59.

Getting 59 gets me access to Alterac valley (which gives me the option of that daily quest for more bonus honor every time it comes up) but getting to 70 gets me a pile of new gear, complete battleground access, and my flying form.

Honestly, until I have enough honor and marks to get the core of the PVP set, I'm probably going to pace myself. There's a 75,000 honor cap currently. I can get the entire core set of gear (gloves, shoulders, leggings, helm, chestpiece) with that assuming I have the marks necessary to do so. The total honor needed to get the core 5 pieces is 65,250. After that I need another 47,494 for the boots, bracers and belt. After looking at the price breakdown for the gear, you can quickly see how 220k honor can get spent JUST on gear.

Fun thing is, I need a second one of those mainhand weapons, which adds another 25,200 honor and 20 Eye of the Storm marks to the total.

Just for the record, all pvp armor costs the same. Not all weapons cost the same.

Arena Season 3 is delayed.

Which means that the conversion of arena season 1 gear from arena points to honor is delayed, and the release of the new vindicator's pieces is delayed.

The upside is that there's more time to prepare for them coming out. Including more time to get my druid to 70 (he's 50 now)

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

Yay for patch day.

Ok 2.3 is now live and I have one thing to say.

GET THE SERVERS UP ALREADY.

They delayed the final server load with 2.3 until 6pm my time (planned time for up was 3pm). It's driving me and all the people who play in the same battlegroup batty.

88th post and what do I have to show for it?

Not much.

Alenrak only has 8 of the 110 Arathi marks he needs to get his gear set. He doesn't have enough honor for even one piece, and there's a patch coming out that will turbo him to 60ish.

Gonna be one of those I guess.

At least I have the materials for the 24 slot quiver for my hunter.

Honor farming and bracketing.

I have a multitude of options on Alenrak for honor farming right now.

  1. Continue bracketing at 49
  2. Powerlevel (and powergear) to 59 and bracket there (gives me access to Alterac Valley)
  3. Powerlevel (and powergear) to 69 and bracket there (gives me access to Alterac Valley and Eye of the Storm)
  4. Max out to 70 and grind the honor and marks there (which gives me a massive gear disadvantage)
I'm leaning towards options 1 or 2 right now, with option 1 being more likely due to the changes in 2.3 that will be coming out soon. So many decisions, so little time.

Inching closer to the complete set of gear for Alenrak.

I just finished the Warsong Gulch run that got me to having 50 marks of honor.

That gets him the final warsong marks he needs to get his complete pvp gear set. The next priority will probably end up being Arathi marks, as they are immediately accessible AND the ones I need the most of (at 110). I might even be able to get a piece or two from the Arathi requirements before I get 70.

The fun part is, Arathi weekend is coming up, and I need marks from there. I'm just not sure if I want to level to 59 before I go after them or not.

Decisions.

Tuesday, November 06, 2007

For those of you who care, Alenrak's Gear list.

The complete set:

Gladiator's Wyrmhide Gloves - 10,500 Honor, 20 Alterac marks of honor

Gladiator's Wyrmhide Legguards - 14,500 Honor, 30 Warsong marks of honor

Vindicator's Band of Dominance - 15,300 Honor, 10 Alterac marks of honor
Sergeant's Heavy Cloak - 7,548 Honor, 20 Arathi marks of honor

Gladiator's Gavel - 25,200 Honor, 20 Eye of the Storm marks of honor
Gladiator's Endgame - 9,000 Honor, 20 Eye of the Storm marks of honor
Gladiator's Idol of Steadfastness - 8,000 Honor, 10 Eye of the Storm marks of honor

Runed Ornate Ruby - 6,885 Honor
Gleaming Ornate Dawnstone - 6885 Honor
Potent Ornate Topaz - 8,500 Honor

Grand Total: 215,362 Honor, 110 Arathi marks, 60 Alterac marks, 50 Warsong marks, 100 Eye of the Storm marks.

Just a wee bit expensive. Shame my personal best for honor was about 7k/day during Alterac Valley weekend. It's going to be VERY tedious.

Doing a gear gathering run for a toon that can't use the gear yet.

Alenrak is now working on getting a complete set of gear for when he needs to go raiding.

The grand total will come to over 200k honor and upwards of 110 marks of a given type.

Not exactly a cheap process, but it still needs to be done because there's crap all for boomkins in pve drops.

I've decided on my next level 70

Now that I have Chojiro and Telorin at level 70, I've been trying to decide which toon will be next to get to 70.

The decision has been made.

Alenrak has been decided as the next victim.

Monday, September 10, 2007

Almost have another level 70.

Telorin, my warlock, is almost level 70.

This will be my second level 70 toon.

It'll end up being me having 120g/day coming in just from daily quests between the two.

I can get him to 70 by the end of the week, no problem. He's 68 and half a level right now, and probably has rested bonus to the end of the level.

After that I get to work on one of my healers.

Fun.

Joys of raiding while being under-geared.

Tonight we're trying to down curator without having the right gear/class distribution.

It's not working out too well. We're getting to him, but we can't kill the flares quickly enough.

Bleh, no tier 4 tonight I guess.

Wednesday, June 06, 2007

Bigger bag space.

My primary alt character in WoW, Telorin, can now make Imbued Netherweave Bags.

I'm just waiting on the WoW authentication server to be able to get in and make my first ones.

The joys of server issues.

Loss of a good friend.

Yesterday, one of my family's cats got run over by a car. We didn't see who did it, so we couldn't inform them.

She was brought to the vet who is arranging for cremation.

These next couple of days won't be easy for me.

She will be missed.

Taking to the skies.

I've now taken to the skies of Outland in World of Warcraft. Today I wait for an extended maintainence cycle to rejoin the fliers.

I'm also working on my kara key quest. Gonna be good to have that done.

Sunday, May 13, 2007

This time it's an Honor Grind instead of a Reputation Grind.

With it being Alterac Valley weekend, I've been working on grinding through several battlegrounds with it.
I've been able to get over 3000 honor a day without really trying on it, so I could probably have a good chunk of honor come the next patch.

I should probably suggest some new gear for the battlegrounds on their forums. In the meantime I'll just grind for honor until the end of the weekend then switch battlegrounds to the others during the week.

Monday, May 07, 2007

More progress is being made.

Since the start of the month I have made enough progress on Chojiro to say that he will be level 70 by the end of wednesday. I just need to burn through most of the quest log he has right now and finish any chains I've started in that.

WOOHOO!

Tuesday, May 01, 2007

First post in may

Things that have happened recently:
  1. 25th birthday
  2. Discovered that the virtual dedicated server I ordered wasn't powerful enough
  3. Got Chojiro to Level 67
  4. Got Chojiro his level 60 ground mount training (150 skill)
  5. Got a third Imbued Netherweave Bag for Chojiro.
Not too bad for all over the span of 3 days.

Thursday, April 26, 2007

Slowly getting things sorted out.

Ok, progress going on:
  1. Chojiro is level 65 with a lot of quests to go before 70 becomes an issue.
  2. Chojiro also is at the final stage of his Onyxia attunement. Getting it just to have it.
  3. Shotakumi is working on getting to the 30s in order to be able to use the scarlet set.
  4. Rhakeem is also working on getting to the 30s for the same reason (which is a bit longer a wait).
  5. Telorin is working on getting to 50 for master tailoring.
  6. I've got my sound system fully functional through my main system, so now I have voice chat going as well as regular sound on my main system.
  7. I have xfire, ventrilo and teamspeak clients working on my system. Guild events are going to be easy to voice chat with.
  8. I've updated my site at http://depthstrike.com/~dwknight/ to include my xfire mini-profile.
  9. I'm getting closer to having my money sorted out enough to get a bigger hard drive for the main system. The joys of free space.
Things to do afterwards:
  1. PVP Rewards for Chojiro. The cheap mount is definitely worth it, and it wouldn't hurt to get some of the gear too.
  2. Telorin to 58-60. Gotta get usable in outlands sometime.
  3. A bunch of other stuff.

Battlegrounds for fun and upgrades.

I'm going to be spending a lot of my free time during the battleground weekends in WoW gaining honor and marks for the PVP level 70 Epic sets.

As of right now I'm at:
  • 16 Warsong Marks of Honor
  • 809 Confirmed Honor
  • 1094 Pending Honor (estimated total of 1903)

Here's hoping I get enough exp during the week to be able to use the level 70 stuff when I can afford it honor/mark wise. I'll just be hanging on to the stuff until then.

Saturday, April 07, 2007

WEEE! KITTY!

As of this morning I am 19/1000 Exalted with Darnassus.

I checked my auction results and discovered I not only had enough money to get Exalted, I also had enough money to get my Cat mount.

Striped Frostsaber + King Bangalash = Matched Set.

Friday, April 06, 2007

And the progress continues slowly.

I'm sitting at 15344 of 21000 reputation to get exalted with Darnassus. It basically puts me at 76 Reputation turn-ins away.

I don't know what level I'll actually be at when I get the exalted level, but I'll definetly have more mount options when I'm done.

Tuesday, April 03, 2007

Getting closer, but in a way getting farther away.

I'm now at 14669 of 21000 reputation to get exalted so that I can get the cat mount. The big problem is that I've been burning through ammunition so fast that I'm almost out.

I should probably take a break from this reputation grind and get some money for ammo (and a few stacks of ammo while I'm at it) but I'm probably not going to do that until I'm entirely out of my current ammo.

Of course another option I'm exploring is powerleveling my Druid Alenrak to level 47 so he can get the morrowgrain quests and then have him make all the morrowgrain and send it over to Chojiro.

I'll probably figure something out, as there are still 85 turn-ins of 75 rep left to go. 20 Runecloth or 10 Morrowgrain per turn-in. At least I know of places to farm Runecloth and have enough Un'Goro soil in the stash to get me at least a few turn-ins of Morrowgrain.

I'll probably burn off a level or two of rested bonus across my other characters this week. Good times.

Sunday, April 01, 2007

Working on reputation.

For the past couple of days, I've been working on my Darnassus reputation on Chojiro in order to get one of the cat mounts.

I started with about 5000-6000 points of Honored reputation.

As of this post, I'm at a little shy of 12000 points of Revered reputation.

I need to get to 21000 points of Revered to get to Exalted so I can get the cat mount.

It'll probably be the end of the week before I get it.

Thursday, March 29, 2007

And now I'm back in the big chair.

Today I got my replacement A7M266-D motherboard.

It's now approximately 7 hours after I got it and it appears to be running fine. I haven't had the CPUs running at less than 45c in over a year, so there's some improvement there.

Hopefully I can have the system back to fully running by the time the next LAN party in my area rolls around.

Monday, March 12, 2007

Blown capacitors suck.

My main computer's A7M266-D died this weekend.

One blown capacitor (near the CPU socket) and it's done.

I'm not looking forward to spending the $200 to replace it.

Tuesday, March 06, 2007

One more level till new ammo.

Chojiro is currently on Accurate Slugs as his ammo. Once the servers get back up, I'm going to grind him to 55 so he can use Impact Shot.

In the meantime, I looked up the bluetooth capabilities of my phone and discovered that I could potentially use my computer as a handsfree set for my phone. Here's hoping it works.

Monday, February 26, 2007

I think Brothers Tauren said it best about Legendary Weapons.

"Have you taken a good look at one of those things? It's like Keyser Söze. Not only does it do horrible things to the person you're attacking, it does horrible things to everyone they've ever known."

"IT'S AWESOME"

I got my Sul'thraze the Lasher today and it's fun to use. Its chance on hit effect has gone off enough times to make me VERY happy.

This should hold me over for a few levels.

Ever so closer.

I'm working on getting sang'thraze for my hunter a bit more seriously now. Hopefully I'll get it before I get level 55.

If I get level 55 first, I'm going to just give up and switch to going after my tier gear.

Sunday, February 25, 2007

Legendary weapons.

Jang'Thraze the Protector plus Sang'Thraze the Deflector make Sul'Thraze the Lasher.

I already have Jang'Thraze and am working on getting Sang'Thraze.

Good fun for a guy with 1 out of 260 points in the skill for the weapon.

Wednesday, February 21, 2007

And still making progress

Got some more quests done on both my hunter and warlock, so that's all good.

Hopefully I'll finish things up and maybe get my cat caught up in level.

Great fun.

Thursday, February 15, 2007

Mounted up.

As of this week, my warlock (Telorin) is now level 40 and has his cheap ride.

I don't know how long ago they changed it, but now the Felsteed skill for warlocks is a purchace instead of a travel and get.

I hope I can find my missing 2GB memory key now that I've replaced like all of the critical data from it.

Monday, February 12, 2007

One step closer.

Now that the warlock class quests are all caught up, it's time for the push to 40.

Come on level.

Saturday, February 10, 2007

Progress for the warlock.

I've gotten the scarlet monastery quests done, and am working on gathering money and items for future profit.

Here's hoping I can get him to level 40 soon so he can get his mount.

Wednesday, February 07, 2007

Yay, progress.

I just finished "Mythology of the Titans" on the warlock. Now he only has 1 more quest in the Scarlet Monastery to do.

First things first, gotta finish the "Components for the Enchanted Gold Bloodrobe"

Got some quests to do.

On a couple of my characters on Bloodhoof, I have some quest chains and grinding to do.

Warlock:
> Scarlet Crusade related quests (In the scarlet monastery)
> Other random quests for gear, reputation and money
> Aiming to get level 40 (and the free mount)

Hunter:
> Un'goro crater quests like there's no tomorrow
> Aiming to get at LEAST level 50 (hopefully higher)

Good thing I know where I'm going with these at least.

Sunday, January 28, 2007

Fishing and WoW.

At the fishing event in WoW on Bloodhoof last week, I ended up getting myself a Lucky Fishing Hat.

If I can't get the Arcanite Fishing Pole, I hope to get the Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots or some High Test Eternium Fishing Line.

I doubt I'll get any, but it's worth a try.

Tuesday, January 23, 2007

Got the pattern I was after.

I went looking for the Pattern for the Robes of Arcana today as my third trip to try to get it. Within about 10 kills of the appropriate mobs this trip, I managed to get my hands on the pattern. Now I can finally make the robe for that quest.

Now to work on getting my hunter his reputation in Darnassus so he can have a cat mount.

Monday, January 15, 2007

One more day till Burning Crusade and......

There's a bleeping storm coming through the night before. I'm not sure if road conditions will be friendly for the trip.

Two people going over to pick up a copy and up to 4 copies coming back. I'm also planning on getting the Burning Crusade Limited Edition Keyset for the Ideazon ZBoard Crossfire for myself and a ZBoard Crossfire for my sister.

Tuesday, January 09, 2007

Burning Crusade in a week.

Next week, Blizzard Entertainment will be releasing World of Warcraft, The Burning Crusade.

I have a copy on preorder, and will be picking it up no later than the sunday after it comes out.

The last character slot I have on Bloodhoof is currently reserved for a Blood Elf Hunter. I may delete old characters, or I may simply play other characters on other servers. I'm not sure yet.

Saturday, January 06, 2007

Battlegrounds.

I got my first taste of battlegrounds in World of Warcraft this week. It was quite entertaining.

I can see why people may want warlocks nerfed.
